fbcp -- Data Loading Utility for SYBASE [Fusion Systems Group Inc (New York)]

Fusion fbcp utility takes formatted raw data and inserts it into a SYBASEdatabase. It is an enhancement to SYBASE's bcp program. Removing manyof the limitations of the bcp program, fbcp can be used with various dataformats as well as with files that don't directly correspond to thetarget table in SYBASE. Features of Fusion fbcp include:

All arguments can be specified on the command line, allowing the

creation of reusable shell scripts requiring no user interaction.

Understands fixed-width and delimited data, even mixed in the same

datafile.

Understands EBCIDIC datafiles and BCD data.
Can perform updates as well as insertions.
Can skip and/or re-order data columns from the input file. The

datafile format need not exactly match the target table.

Can supply control- and metacharacters as data separators.
Includes Special data-checking mode to test data validity prior to

loading.By using fbcp, developers can avoid the time-consuming task of writingcustom awk or sed scripts to manipulate foreign data to fit theconstraints of the standard bulk copy facility.
